Does it have the throttle by wire? If it does then it is a relatively easy add on as you only have to swap out the lower left control housing on the left grip, route the wires and reconnect under the tank. Then take it to the dealer to have it turned on in the ECU. I did it to my 2016 Breakout for under $150 . I bought a used housing from someone here on the forum for $100 (regularly $250) and installed it myself, then took it to the dealer who charged me $25 to switch it on.
If not then it is a more drawn out addition and more intensive labor wise. I have only dealt with the throttle by wire systems in the past.

A friend has a 2014 deluxe she would like to add cruise control to it. Is that posible.
Depending on how much you want to spend, anything is possible. I'm sure you've shown her the stock "star" shaped
throttle lock right ? No, its not cruise control, but its better than nuthin. The Barefoot ******* Throttle Tender works
with that for only ~$11.00.
I don't believe they added TBW to Softails until 2016. I added cruise to my 2017 Fat Boy right after I bought it. Luckily I didn't have to have it activated in the ecu. My service dept told me it's about 50/50 the number that come from the factory already activated. I wish there was more cost friendly options out there for cable throttle models. Looking at an older Super but would like to have cruise on it.
I have the CC on all my Softails, the oldest is a 2016 Breakout but on the 48 I made something that almost act as a cc and is easy to manipulate, not so good as
the electronic but it's oke for what it is. It is made out of a piece rvs and can be adjusted if needed with a small locking screw, to the front is on to the back is off.
The picture shows the part on my Iron but when I sold that one a kept the part and installed it on my 48.
I have the Cruise Mates on 2 bikes and while they are not cruise controls, they are pretty good and I get by just fine with them. When you consider the price they are damn good.
I did a Clever Lever for less than ten bucks, fits on the star, not as nice as the cruise mate but the same Idea. what a hand saver since I get cramps in my right hand.
