The 2003 Heritage did not come with hard bags. They came with leather bags, with a bunch of studs & conchos...

My 1989 Heritage and my 2003 Heritage both came with leather bags....

I know the Road King had different models that came with either hard bags or leather bags, but I don't remember any Heritage ever being offered OEM with hard bags.... It's my understanding, that any Heritage with hard bags has aftermarket bags...

do a search for softail baggers.

Not Heritage but a softail (Deluxe):
Pre Rushmore bags (aftermarket)
Same bike with Rushmore bags.
I like the Rushmore bags allot more.

Yeah I had Google search that picture once before and the bag sit really high on the bike I prefer to have the extended lower ones that sit below the exhaust not above

As many have shown, it's possible to do.... just not OEM... many aftermarket vendors offer ways to add hard bags to softails...

Many pictures of Softails (fatboy, Heritage etc) with the OEM style touring hardbags . look in the thread "Softail baggers"

The original conversion kit was Cycle visions but there are now a lot of knockoffs where you can get bags and brackets for less than $400 here is a link to Amazon but many posted on EBay as well
