Default 110 to 117 Stage IV.....

So I'm contemplating on doing the 117 ci Stage IV upgrade on my '17 Slim S 110. I noticed on my parts estimate quote that they included a T Max tuner and wholly **** are they expensive especially up here in Canada!! Are they worth the money to set/tune the upgrade?. I'm also considering adding a set of Big Radius individual pipes. I just to wake the bike up feel more power. Must be a gear head thing like going from a small block Chevy to a much bigger BBC. Thoughts.......

You'll want a good 2 into 1 exhaust with that set-up. Something from D&D would be your best bet. Skip the V&H Big Radius if you want the bike to perform at it's Optimum. The T Max is a good fuel management tuner but a PowerVision may be a little less $$$ and you'll still receive the same results.

Have you compare the price to a Power Vision ???
See Fuel Moto ...and they will provide a base map ...and help with any future issues if needed ...but you must purchase it from them ...

good luck ...

Nothing beats the factory computer, get a Screamin Eagle Super Tuner and get it Dyno Tuned thats where your going to get the most power.

Don't buy a tuning device until you select a dyno person. Then buy the device they like to use...youll get the best results that way. While its important for all the parts to work together, for some reason so many people try to go cheap on the tune...these will be the same people in the dyno section asking why their build sucks... lol. Im not a fan of 2 into 1s but they do seem to make better power in a wider range, and its only money

I'm sure there are tons of builds that make more TQ&HP.

I had a dealer install the 117 kit on my Fat Boy S last year. I do like the torque the 117 makes versus the 110 and the factory warranty ended up helping me out. It seems some of the early 117 kits had a problem with the mating surface at the bottom of the cylinders. I had the base gaskets changed 3 times for leaking oil before the tech called the factory and they replaced the jugs based on this defect.

While I don't like the look of 2:1 pipes, what you are hearing is probably correct. I have a small flat spot in my TQ curve between 2K and 3K that multiple tuners have attributed to my 2:2 free flowing exhaust. On the flip side, my HP curve never stops climbing until it hits the relatively low "B" motor redline.

Pyro, how do you like the 117 kit and was it worth it? This is considered a stage IV kit, correct? I'm trying to decide where to go with my 16S.
Thanks!

I agree there's no reason to change the OEM computer.....

But if you want even modest power increase, stay away from the Screamin' Eagle Tuners.... They are all EPA/CARB compliant... That means they WILL NOT give you the most power for your investment. They only allow for slight changes over stock tune parameters...

You will need a good flash tuner and a good dyno tuner to get the most power out of your mods...

I happen to be a fan of both the PowerVision tuner and FuelMoto

If you buy the big bore kit from FuelMoto, they will be able to supply you with a very good tune map for the parts, and will give you support in dialing in the map if necessary...

I've had good luck with FuelMoto maps... I always run auto tunes on them after flashing them to my bikes.... I'm usually within 4% average change on the VE tables, after the first AT session...
