Hello guys! I’m the proud owner of a new-to-me 2008 Softtail Deluxe and I’d like to put some hard bags on her so I figured I’d ask for your opinions and experiences. Thanks in advance!
Or go on Amazon or EBay and look for complete kits (if you can use black bags) there are many knock off mounting kits for HD Hard Bags onto Softails that are much less than the original Cycle Visions Kit and are the same. Watch out for the kits that dont have the brace at the back that ties the 2 bags together and goes up under the fender, that is the difference with the cheaper knock offs . Without the brace the bags wobble / move. Ive seen people buy the knock off complete kits and then make up the rear support out of flat stock to tie the two sides together.
But there are decent kits complete with brackets and black bags / lids and all hardware for under $ 300 vs the Cycle Visions Kit alone without bags is $ 300.
I have a full set of bags of a 2009 Streetglide on the classifieds section. You would need to get the brackets for your bike, but everything else is included.

I only recommended cycle visions kit because I’ve used it and know it’s good quality i have no idea on the knock off kits
I looked into this for my 2000 Heritage
I believe that the Cycle Vision set up is the ONLY way to go.
W/O that extra support at the bottom, the bags will just
be flappin' in the breeze.
Plus . . . they make bag guards, rails and fillers.
Also comes in black or chrome.
All very top notch.
Seen a few. Looks factory.
