Default Thoughts on this bike

Looking at a 2014 CVO Deluxe for sale. It has 3600 on the clock for $15900. It has a V&H Big Radius but otherwise all stock. Color is cobalt blue/white pearl option. I couldn't find a scratch on it. I'm new to softtail world. Does the price seem in the ballpark?

NADA Book Value: $15,270 But this bike, with 20,00 miles, sold on eBay last month for 9600.00

NADA Avg Retail for my zip shows $15,665 but that's in the same ballpark as what you listed. Don't know that I would buy a bike off of eBay and that's quite a difference in mileage. So, I don't know if the eBay bike and what I am looking at is totally comparable. That said, a $6k difference in price is substantial. Thanks!

Bikes seem to be flying out the doors in my area. I've never seem so much activity during the winter months. Maybe it's because our temps have been WAY above normal in my area this winter or people want to be set up with a bike when it turns warmer. Who knows?
That said, what's fair offer for this bike based on the Black Book numbers, the avg. retail of $14,290? Thanks!

Are Dealers utilizing black book or NADA?

My dealer mentioned last week they use a database of bikes and how much they sold same bike for. They use data from previous dealer sales instead of nada

Offer him $13K. Tell him you don't like the pipes, it'll cost you $1000 bucks to change them, and you don't really care if it's a CVO or not.

Tell him what black book average says it's worth. When he says it's worth more because it only has 3600 miles on it, ask him if that means it's only had one oil change in the past 6 years.

Work it from there, up to your limit for price. If he's set on his price and won't come down, I would walk.

Harley is great for creating garage queens. There's lots of stuff out there...

Yeah, this bike is being sold by a non-Harley motorcycle dealer. I mentioned all of the above. The bike has had a pre-owned, full service, work over so it's in good shape. The dealer GM said he wouldn't lose my business over $300-$400 (which is basically his setup fee), but he said he is getting a lot of interest both locally and out-of-state. Who knows if that's true or not. I'm looking at a couple of others I found in the area with a few more miles but over $1000 less.

Sometimes those guys are worse to deal with than a Harley dealer. They must not make enough profit from their T shirts...

They're gonna tell you whatever they think you want to hear, to buy the bike....

As someone said, it's got 3600 miles... so it's only been serviced once in 6 years....??? That's nothing to brag about...

It's probably going to be due for tires within a year, regardless of tread... check the date codes on the tires, anything over 7 yrs should be changed...

It's probably never had the brake fluid changed... ABS or not... hydraulic fluids should be changed, regardless of current public opinion...

A set up fee from a non-HD dealer on a used bike, is almost as ridiculous as a dealer set-up fee form a dealer on a new bike....

Blackbook power sports' numbers suggest they gave between $10K and $11K on it as a trade-in.... probably closer to $10K...

It's a buyers' market... offer $12K, or maybe $13K if you really, really love it to death.... if they laugh and give you all the their BS reasons why that's an unacceptable offer.... walk....

If they don't call you back, there will be another one, soon, just as good if not better....

The worst thing you can do in this market is to be in a hurry, or fall in love with a bike that's over priced, without spending some time to familiarize yourself with the market... While you can find a good deal/bike right off the bat... it's rare you won't find another one, just as good, a little later in your search...

Quick story... I wanted to add a Springer, FXSTS, to my garage.... A lot of Springer owners were very, very proud of their Springers.... I looked around for about two years.... I did not find one listed for less than $4K over average retail, and many were extremely modded to the point they overdone, or not even street legal (missing turn signals, small bullet brake light, no mirrors, etc).... I did find a couple, and I walked away from a couple of very nice bikes because of their inflated price... I finally found a 2001, all OEM except for the seat, with 9.6K miles, for $800 over the average retail at the time... It was the best bike & deal I saw in a 2 years AND the best bike...

Good luck and enjoy the search......
