You must have went practicaly right past my place. I'm just off the 58 12 miles west of 395. Guess that cuts out the "hi elevation" theory. While I do believe some folks stretch their gas milage claims a bit...and I'm sure that dealer sticker said 35mpg, I have to believe I could be getting better gas milage. Out on a roadtrip I can get 35mpg if I go the speed limit, but here in Cali...that's almost downright dangerous.
None the less, my put runs GREAT, and gas milage probably won't get any better with the Andrews 21G geared cams I want to put in. The only thing left for me to try (gas mileage wise) is to get my power commander dynoed in after I do the cam install, but with as good as it runs now...I'm not thinking the map I got when I bought it at fuelmottousa could be off by much (if any).

As best I can remember, the official EPA highway rating for big twins is around 53 - 54 mpg, and it is possible to really do that or even better it. Chances are that your bike is not running exessively lean. A very lean mixture won't produce as much power. So, a very lean mix will cause you to have to open the throttle more and downshift more, so you end up actually using more gas than with a proper mixture.
