I'm staying away from saddlebags, instead I have a Boss Bag (#65) that will permanently mount to the fender rack and go everywhere I go.
Since my version of "needed" storage is something I will use everyday, I leaned away from the detachable rear components that I just figured would never come off.

Did you get the Boss Bags yet? That is the exact same idea I had for my Deluxe and havent been able to find pictures yet of a Softail with just a leather "truck" on no saddle bags. I too want the storage for communting to work , etc.
Yes, I got the Boss Bag (I love it), but I am still waiting on the fender rack which should come in this week. I will post pics when I get everything set up. Just holding the bag in place behind the sissy bar has me convienced that all the right proportions will exist for the look I am after.
