That exact problem is happening to my friends bike, Harley changed out the IAC . We just met up with a tech that comes highly recommended to feel him out and both my friend and I got good feeling about him . we are going to trailer the bike to him this weekend.
His bike is a 13 and mine is a 14 if we did not find this tech we would try swapping out ecms as a last resort. Here is the post about the problem https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...ike-idles.html
As I said earlier, the the intake has been well cleaned, the seals were replaced and the older Fuelpak removed but still had the same issue. I have also replaced the IAC and upgraded to an FP3 (many thanks to Vance & Hines support!!). Right now I am waiting for a new engine temp sensor to arrive.
I can and do still ride the bike but have to be really careful... sometimes it will rev up over 2500 RPMs until I shut it off and start over...
Will this rev up while you are riding?????? My friends bike will only do it at idle. when he rides the bike it seems fine the problem only happens when we are at a stop light and the bikes in neutral...
It is simple to test the ECM. Dealer can hook it up and test it. Even many Indy's can do it on bikes 2020 and below. Your issue is highly unlikely to be ECM.
Sounds like the Throttle Position Sensor

Never had it happen on my bike, but it went bad on my truck and did exactly what you are describing.

Many thanks for the suggestions! I haven't gotten a chance to find out if the engine temp sensor cured the problem yet... bike is at the shop getting Progressive monotubes installed and a new stator. Was only getting 11.6 volts.
Well a new indy picked up my friends bike and took it back to his shop. I met the mechanic and he has worked for a dealership in the past and seemed to be genuine. I got a good feeling after meeting with him. Also he seems to have a solid rep as a bike mechanic which is hard to do around here. I will keep you posted on what he finds.....swifty
I'm just (im)patiently waiting to get my bike back to see if I still have a problem...
Yea! Appears the engine temp sensor solved the problem (I'm guessing new intake seals and IAC didn't hurt either).
Also wound up with new stator & voltage regulator... but such is life.
Many thanks for all of the suggestions!
