Hi, I've recently bought a 2014 Deluxe which I'm considering fitting a set of fishtails to it. I've searched the forum for peoples experience with them, however didn't find any info.
My question for those with fishtails, does the rear head pipe exiting the LH side of the bike cook your ***?
It appears on most brands to be close under the seat and wraps around the clutch cover. I live in a hot climate and would not love getting a cooked *** when riding it long distance. The V&H system that it came with doesn't transmit much heat, some heat in summer doesn't bother me, just roasted thighs I don't like
The only time I notice the heat is when I am sitting at an intersection. Through learned experience, I have developed a great respect for the open primary and keep my leg out a little further than most.

I was going to write the same thing. I'm short (and fat), so when I stop, if I'm not paying attention my left leg rests on the pipe. When riding it's not an issue
I will feel the heat from the left pipe when stopped. I have a 34" inseam so I put my foot down further forward and to the side so it doesn't bother me at all.
If you need some relief from the heat, Captain Itch makes quality leather heat shields. They are very popular on the forum.
To be honest I've never noticed more heat with fishtails than I did with my V&H pipes that were both on the right side. It's about the same, most of the heat that you'll feel at a red light is probably coming off of the heads anyway.
As has been said I only notice mine when I'm stuck in traffic (by then you can feel the oil tank under your *** anyway) I have learn't to put my right foot down more as opposed to my left when I ride this bike.

No it's not hot on the *** but you do have to throw your left leg out futher to prevent it from rubbing against the pipe.
I wouldn't wear anything real loose or baggy (rain gear?) with them.
