Hi I have a 2007 fatboy, it only has one throttle cable but it works does it really need the 2? I have the tank off at moment so now would be time to fit it if it does. Secondly I need to get to the bulbs in the speedo to remove abs bulb how do I get the back off the speedo? Thanks

I run my bikes the way they were designed, with a few exceptions. Throttle cables would not be one of my exceptions.. I would have my throttle cables set-up to OEM specs, unless I was running an aftermarket throttle cable system....
The speedo is a sealed unit, not meant to be taken apart.... There are videos on youtube showing how it's possible to carefully pry the bezel ring open, gain access to the speedo internals, and then close it back up. It is done by people wanting to change out their speedo face dial to something different...
FWIW... I actually bought a used speedo once, and then saw that it was obviously opened up by the previous owner... I returned it... I want no part of a tampered speedo or would I want a bike that had one....

The two-cable throttle system is for safety redundancy to allow closure of the throttle should it stick in some way. Safety should never be compromised. Install the missing cable.
You may want to research the speedo illumination. It's possible that the sealed unit uses LEDs that are soldered into a printed circuit making replacement very difficult. I personally don't know what HD uses in them.

From this screen shot, taken from that video about opening up the Speedo, it looks like you are correct.....
How do you know there is not an issue with the ABS....?
Did you remove the ABS...???
no the Speedo was replaced before I had the bike but its not equipped with abs, only speedo they had that was American spec (Im in Uk and bike is an import) was an abs one. If I cant get to bulb I suppose I could figure which wire supplies power to bulb snd disconnect that
Ill look into getting the second cable and live with the bulb constantly lit up then 🙄
thanks
For what it's worth. Replace the second cable or replace both as a set. The second cable as already mentioned is for safety. Say for instance the one remaining cable breaks while in the middle of a throttle on and off move. Like when shifting. The throttle butterfly will go to wide open on engine vacuum and put you in a dangerous driving condition. Or if upon firing up your engine it goes to full rev limit and scares the crap out of you or blows up. Not worth just looking in to. Get it done. Speedos are aplenty. Live with what you've got or find a Harley spec replacement. And marry it to the ECM of your bike.
