Thanks for the update. Hoping that it really solved your problem for ever.
And if anybody has a similar problem and does a search, your conclusion just might give them hope that their problem is fixable too.
When changing the crank position sensor I noticed another wire above it. It has three white prongs sticking out of the fitting but there is no sign of a female connection anywhere. The wire joins up to others and heads to the rear of the motorcycle. Looking up the number on it it is a NAMZ Custom Cycle Molex male connector. Does anyone know what that is for? I have added a photo for reference. Thank you.
I don't know what that connector is for, but NAMZ Custom Cycles is a shop that specializes in making OEM grade plug-n-play harnesses and extensions... They also do a lot of LED lighting and lighting modules..
It may be a harness extension for an accessory that was removed..
NAMZ is my go to shop anytime I change handlebars and need to extend the wires.... I just get a NAMZ plug-n-play harness long enough for the application... I'm not a fan of splicing in extensions... even theirs... just don't like the the extra connections
Here's the NAMZ web site... send them an email with your picture and description, they should be able to tell you what it's for...
Nope. Unfortunately the issue persists. I went for a ride yesterday and had the same crank-but-wont-start issue when filling up. Once again managed to start after two minutes rest. When I got home and parked in the shed I could not replicate the problem. It started every time.
So far I have new battery, crank position sensor, engine temperature sensor, air filter, fuel pump, filter, pressure regulator, check valve, and all new hoses in tank. Fuel pressure is good. New coil, wires and spark plugs, fuses, relays and starter clutch. Battery leads are in good condition and grounds are clean and tight. No codes present.

Time to go back to basics...
Get a spark check tool and a fuel pressure gauge...
Next time it won't start, check the spark right at the spark plugs. Then check the fuel pressure at the fuel tank fitting...
Those two tests will tell you what the problem is, and which direction from the test spot to check.....
No. It sometimes happens when I stop for food or drink. It also happens when the tank is at various fuel levels.
I have fuel squirting in my tank when the fuel pump is engaged and when the motor is running. I will take a peek in the tank today to see where it's coming from.
Ok - I just thought maybe there was a possibility that you were over-filling and filling a fuel canister or emission equipment. I've done it before on other vehicles.

It should be coming from the fuel pressure regulator... it is regulating pressure and venting off excess pressure...
When the ignition is turned on, the pump primes the system (58-62psi), then is shut off... The pump will turn back on, when the ECM is told the engine is running (CKP sensor, I believe)...
For you to confirm you have a leak from your tank internals, you need to prime the pump/fuel system, and then hear/see fuel squirting in the tank when the pump is off....
