Default 2003 Fatboy front/inner shift lever question

Apparently the Fatboy comes with lever welded to the shaft of the heel/toe shifter. If I want to swap that to an aftermarket Arlen Ness that needs splines, where can I find a shaft that has the splines and not the lever already welded to it? I think bigfoot would be easier to find LOL

Thinking you're confused which side the shift lever goes on?

PS.. Make your next new post over in the new member area

Just in case...

Welcome from North Beach, FL., USA!

Just in case you have not done this.

Add a Signature Line in your USER set up for your bike year, model, and all the letters that Harley recognizes it with so others see at the bottom of all your post. This enables others to know your exact model if you ever ask a question.

And an Avatar of your favorite shot in the USER set up for the small picture others will see in the top left corner of your post.

Not sure I understand what you're saying here. I do understand which side. The shift lever is on the inside (right) of the front pivot point and the actual heel/toe shifters are on the outside (left) of the pivot point. I'm trying to see if there's a shaft with splines on both ends instead of just the outside. It currently looks just like the parts breakdown above shows and that won't work. Thanks!

Good luck on your search man. And welcome to the forum. If the part is different than factory, I would call Arlen Ness and ask them about it. I assume you are talking about part #25?

My '02 is splined just like any other bike. I had it off and made a spacer to get rid of the heel shiter... I mean shifter.

That does exist... however, the shaft with splines on both ends is used on the touring bikes...

The one piece #33668-90C/ #33668-07 shift lever is used on the softail models up until 2017... I believe the M8 softails still use a one piece shift lever too.

Unfortunately, the shift levers mount differently between softails and touring bikes. I have not actually tried it, but the shift levers are not interchangeable between the two...

For your reference...

You need to put a picture of your shifter and a screen print of what Ness product you want to use

I am oblivious confused for sure now
Keep in mind left and right are aways referenced sitting in a driver position be it bikes or cars

Hopefully this helps. I described above right and left oriented as sitting on bike, but here's pics. I want to replace "right/inner" with lever in picture.
