My shop called me today as expected. They received their call-back from V&H Tech support, and my shop has my BSS, FuelPak, and A/C on order now.
Everything should arrive and then get installed early next week (Tue, Wed).
The main issue that was holding things up was the FuelPak settings. Aparently V&H got their needed data from the Motor Company, and are working the sheets for 2008 setup.
My shop needs to callV&H back to be "walked-through" the FuelPak settings once the install begins next week. I guess specifics are "almost" ready.
If any of you 08 owners are right there with me for a set of V&H, order directly from V&H. The tech support guy to speak with at V&H is a fellow named Ryan.
Reading between the lines on this exchange between my shop guys and V&H, sounds like there may be a little "tweaking" required for the first couple of 08 bikes getting the goodies. I won't mind if I have to go back a couple of times. I just can't wait to get rid of the looks and sound of the stock stuff.
I've been busy on the rest of the bike by adding do-dads here and there. The next set of photos will have my bike looking more "useable".
You're waitin' on the Fuel Pak, and I'm waiting on the SERT. I ordered my Martin Bros exhaust for my '08 Custom and I was told the SERT might not be out 'til September, October, or maybe even November. [:@] I can't stand how quiet my bike is.
I'm having the big shots and fuelpak put on my bike this weekend. The stealer that I got mine from told me that there was no change from the 07's to the 08's. I guess I will havethe mechaniccall V&H to get the correct settings for the fuelpak, the fuelpak didn't change from 07 to 08 did it? Or is it just the codes that need to be entered that changed?
All 2008 96-inch motors got a different throttle body than 2007s and before. The FuelPak settings will be a little different for 2008. Don't let anyone tell you theywill bethe same settings. The same settings may or may not work. V&H is under the belief that there will be a change in the settings for their FuelPak. Can't speak to SERTs, PC-III, etc.
There is a firmware upgrade to version 12 on the FuelPaks. I don't know when that revision came out. There are details about it in their FAQs here: http://www.fuelpakfi.com/harley1.html Click on their Support button and then scroll down to the question about upgrading from version 11 to version 12.
Good luck with your exhaust mods, see you on the louder side. Hee hee.
My dealer said they have installed only one FuelPak, and the person they installed it for had problems with it. They recommend either the SERT or the PCIII. They said the SERT for the '07s won't work on the '08s, and the same is true for the PCIII. I imagine the FuelPak for the '08s will be different from the one for the '07s as well.
Kanebanger, I would make sure the dealer talks to V&H before you spend your money on the one that could possibly not work right.
I hate beating a dead horse... but using a FuelPak you will have a 50% chance of poping on decel. (There many threads on this subject) and then when you try to get some help from the HACKS for V&H you may as well talk to a wall. They will try and help you in the begining but once you have exhuasted there two canned answers that is it.
The tech at the shop said that he talked with V&H, and that the 07 fuelpak would work they just have to put a different code in it. I'm dropping it off today and picking it up Tuesday since I'm going out of town this weekend. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes without a problem and I'll let you know how it worked out as soon as I pick it up on Tuesday.
