Saddle bag brackets or braces for an 01 Softail Deuce
I'm trying to find a way to attache throw over saddle bags,or for that matter any bags that will work! I'm looking for some kind of braces or brackets to keep the bags from rubbing! If anyone can help on this it would be deeply appreciated,I've looked everywhere on line and haven't found anything! Thank you ahead of time! Sincerely Joe Bill

I just got some decent looking throw-overs from Amazon for $104. for my Deuce. They are only 11" deep so they stay off the muffler & they are firmly shaped into a rectangle slant. They have a braided looking trim on the face with 3 chrome rivets & double buckles w hidden quick release buckles underneath each. They just go under the seat & tie together, if you have a passenger seat. I tightened them as far as possible & they sit quite well since they rest squarely on the chrome side trim (no need for brackets at all).
I may cut off a couple inches (1 hole of adjustment) so I can tighten them level with the rear seat &/or put some clear packing tape to make double certain the chrome doesn't scratch, but that would be overkill. They are 14 inches long so they fit inside the rear signals perfectly to the front seat, and are 6.5 inches wide, which allows for about 10 water bottles each (estimating there).
I couldn't carry anything without em. Funny how I got compliments on them at the local Harley dealer.
I can look up the part # and even try a pic if anyone is interested. Just one of those things that worked out perfectly.
Thank you first of all Old Patriot! I hope I'm doing this right as far as replying I would like to know the part number for the type name or model number for the bags you're talking about I have tried to throw overs before but they always rub on the hub or on the tire but it sounds like they're small enough. Just know I can't continue on without being able to carry my things that I need tools etc etc etc just in case plus if I want to go on a longer trip. So any information as far as getting a name or whatever of the saddlebags you were talking about you give me appreciate it thank you again.
Not sure exactly what bike you have, but a quick search should come up with a cost-effective way to secure them.
Hope you find just the right bags and mounts for you!
I don't believe those will work on his bike (Softail Deuce)
Fender struts are different ..no external bolts/mounting points on the Deuce struts
Joe, I checked out a set of throw-overs for mine.
I didn't want anything even semi-permanent...just throw over the seat when needed.
They fit and cleared the pipes and turn signals, but like you, I was concerned about chaffing paint and strut chrome.
If I would of kept them, I planed to attach sheepskin to the back side in an effort to prevent rub chaffing.
These are the ones that worked Perfectly on my 05 Deuce. All 3 measurements came out Perfect. Saddlebags for Harley Deuce I also got a 12 inch x 4 inch handlebar bag that helps for stuff that may need quicker access.
Thanks for all the info I appreciate it very much I'll be checking in all of it and try to get back and let y'all know exactly which way I'm going to go but I appreciate the information this is a good form informative friendly .

Thanks for the info. Just trying to help, but don't know a lot about the Deuce. Glad some owners came in to solidify the info he needed.

I found them, but they're 129$ Kemimoto is the MFG! Dbl Buckles, quick release they're as you described to me. I found some brackets for bags in another thread! They're called easy Brackets, but the brackets are almost 400$ for my Deuce! No way I'm paying that.Ive got an idea that might work.Itll take some welding, but it's a simple cure to keep them from rubbing the hub & tire.THANKS AGAIN!
