Hey Purple Haze, read my original post. I'll paste it here for you - you can read, correct?
==================
I'm new to the forum and to HD ownership. I'm taking care of a friends' Night Train while he's in the hospital and recuperating. His 2000 drips some oil on the left side under the engine, it looks like it drips off one of the shocks under the frame. I don't think the shock is leaking though, but that something is dripping on it. It looks like gear oil versus motor oil.
Is there a link or post here that shows how to check the various oils on the Night Train? I know the engine oil is checked at the oil tank but don't know about the rest.

Obviously you are too full of yourself and the HD experience to be helpful to someone who sincerely is interested in learning about HD's. I am not "trollihg" HD boards trying to **** you off - just trying to help a dyslexic HD rider friend. Thanks for nothing you jerk.
I'm impressed by the faithfulness of HD owners.... Jap bike owners have few qualms about changing rides every few years when something newer, better, faster, cooler, etc. comes along. It's nice to know that HD is one of only two companies that boast of 100-year old technology in their motorcycles.
Can you name the other one? (this is a test)
the fact that the japanese had to startemulating the harley davidson Vtwin engine to be competitive in the cruiser market speaks volumes doesn't it.
88Gator...oil doesnt always drip straight down.it could be residual oil off the primary and finding its way back to the shocks....did you try wiping off the bottom of the bike and then looking as best your able to underneath to get a better Idear as to where it may be coming from?
Does the oil smell like gear lube? or does it in all appearences seem like motor oil?
i hope i dont start wanting something new every time a new model comes out. i love the bike i have though (maybe because i have owned it for all of 24 hours! )
My '06 fatboy with 6K on it has never leaked a drop yet. I get a kick out of folks dissing HD's about oil leaks. Obviously they've never ridden an old Triumph or BSA. I've owned one of each, and either one leaked more oilthan 10 old Harley's put together.
A new Harley should not leak other than around the steering head after the dealer lubes it too much during a service. I did have an Evo 1991 Sporster, which may of had many previous owners prior to me. That bike leaked oil out of the primary - replaced the gasket, which basically stopped that; it also had some type of funky filter to catch overflow oil out of the breather. That little filer was always soaked and dripped a few dops most of the time.I wish I had that bike back though - it looked good and ran real well. Hey 88gator, I grew up in West Va. and love that area you were riding!
Mr (respectfully) Purple Haze....If you recall, you flew off the handle once before and felt bad for it...While you may just be trying to be sarcastic, readers can only see your words, not the tone or expression on your face...I'd have to agree that the guy wasn't "trolling"...he seems to have a reasonable question.
