Default '07 Springer Classic Question

I just completed reassembling my Two-Tone Fire Red Pearl / Black Pearl '07 Springer Classic to H-D Luxury Rich Red, as well as replacing everything on my front end with OEM parts purchased +/-10yrs ago knowing most, if not all, would be obsolete. I also replaced my front rotor (purchased recently) and brake pads...both are OEM as well. I've changed my front pads numerous times because I've owned an '01 Heritage Springer in the past and it's a very simple procedure. This is the first time I've replaced the front rotor, though, and relied on my dealer (my mistake) to get the correct one, so I didn't match it up to the old rotor, and threw it out, unfortunately.

Below are a few photos of what's going on with my front rotor / caliper. You can see that the rotor is not fully in the caliper / pads, by far, and where the pads are just touching the rotor while braking. I haven't gone to my dealer yet to show them, but I'm thinking they might have given me a smaller rotor circumference for a different M/Y. Again, this is a very simple, straight forward procedure which I've done numerous times with the exception of changing the rotor, so I have no other choice but to believe it is the wrong size rotor. Any input would be appreciated before I go to the dealer and claim they gave me the wrong size rotor.

Thank you very much and ride safe,
Joe

I believe stock is 11.5"
What does yours measure ?

( I`m guessing 11" as it appears to 1/4" short at the pads

Is the support rod that attaches to the caliper adjusted properly? Take a picture farther back on the left side so we can see how it is mounted please. The support rod should be adjustable and allow the caliper to settle over the rotor.

I cant help you with anything.. But I will say that is a very sexy scooter... Hope you get it figured out quickly.. Also I would not trust a dealer for **** all.. My buddy, who is a 20+ year tech (currently works at a dealer) was doing some work on my bike. So I just had him pick up the parts for me while he was at work... The parts guy still managed to *** up and give him the wrong pads.

Yes, it looks like I'm more than a 1/4" short...more like a 1/2"
I eyeballed the measurement of the rotor from the center of the axle, and it looks to be 11-1/2 to 12" but the dealer will be able to tell me what size rotor he sold me.

The brake reaction link (if this is what you're referring to) is not adjustable. The adjustment is determined by the length of the brake reaction link (which I checked before replacing) which is connected to the L rigid fork leg > fork leg bracket > brake reaction link > caliper bracket, so there's no other way to adjust / mount otherwise. I'm on my way to my dealer with the bike to show them what's going on and request the correct front brake rotor being I see absolutely no other explanation for the issue.
The wosre part is that I have to do this all over again. I should start charging the dealer labor! I'll keep you posted.

Thank you both for your input, I appreciate it,
Joe

You'll have to forgive me if this is a stupid comment... I have an FXSTS Springer and have never worked on, or even handled an FLSTC Springer....

I notice in your caliper mount pic, there is an open hole near the bottom caliper bolt. That hole would move the bottom of the caliper back closer to the bracket and lower the front edge down lower on the rotor....

That is the hole where my bottom caliper bolt goes. I don't even have two caliper bolt holes in that area...

Will the bottom caliper bolt fit in that hole? Is it possible you mounted the bottom bolt in the wrong bolt hole?

I know the brake calipers are on different sides of the forks, with different brackets, but it's just something I noticed as a difference between my FX Springer and your FL Springer.... I could be way out of line on that suggestion...

Good luck with the fix....

I'm with @hattitude on this one. Check to see if that bolt is even IN a hole anywhere. Here's a shot of the front caliper on my 05 Springer Classic.

I wrote 3 paragraphs explaining my day and the damn site glitched on me and it was all erased, so I'm going to make this short & sweet. My parts guy (within 10sec) saw that the lower mounting bolt was not in the mounting plate for the outboard brake pad, as well as @hattitude who also pointed out (which I read after fixing the issue) in my own photo of the brake reaction link . Yes, I missed the mounting plate hole for the lower mounting bolt which is why my pad was not fully covering the surface of the rotor. Nothing to do with the size of the rotor, at all, or the space between the rotor and caliper which remains the same.
Thank you all for your efforts in trying to help me out with my issue, and a special thanks to @hattitude for seeing my mistake in my own photo.

Ride safe,
Joe
