Default Hand and foot control questions?

This may sound like a dumb question but before I get my new fatboy I'd like to know. I am planning on getting new hand grips, floorboard inserts, brake pedal pad, shifter pegs, and passenger pegs the day of purchase. Can these items be easily installed by myself or should I have the dealer install them? This will be my first harley and I want to make sure everything goes on right. Are there any special tools needed. I'd like to do it all myself to save on labor cost if at all possible. Thanks

It all depends on how mechanically capable you are. None of that stuff is difficult to install. Hand grips are easy, you need a sharp knife and a ratchet with a torx bit. Re-inserting the throttle cables into the twist grip can be aggravating, but it's not hard. The rest of the stuff just bolts on. Actually, if you are buying a new bike and all these accessories from the shop, they should put it all on for free.

I second that...It makes me appreciate all the things that go on.
and it is all very easy, even for people that are not mechanically inclined
Now I enjoy making things on my own. During Hurricane Wilma, I was without power for a few days and made a few timer covers out of diamond plating for my buddies using tin snips and a file. That killed a few hours...

I was a little nervous on my first change, but if you just dive in and take it apart, you will easily see how it goes back together. No prob, bob. You will know when it's too much for you to do yourself. But those additions you mentioned are easy enuff.

A good shop manual will come in handy. I've referenced them to help put things back the way I took them apart!

Take your time...Read and understand all directions. Check your work and you'll be fine. It's the best way for you to get familiar with your ride....Enjoy and be safe.
