Default RE: advise on a new seat

ORIGINAL: crock921

may want to search aroudn the thread, this is a pretty popular topic. I went with a sundowner, but mustang and corbing are also very popular. the benefit to the mustang (vintage solo) is that it is a one up seat that you can add a removable passenger seat to. kind of best of both worlds. I would have went with it, but the dealer said I could not return it and there was no where to try it out.
If you want a comfortable seat for riding longer distances (and around town), and you want a reasonable return policy then take a look at the Ultimate Seat. They want you to put at least 100 miles on it before you make a decision. You'll have 2weeks to ride the crap out of it, and if you don't like it you can send it back with no hassles.

I'll probably go with the Ultimate shown below as soon as I get my first couple items put on. I'm hoping to add the seat by mid to end of September. Here's a picture of the full setup...

That is a 4-piece set (driver's seat, driver's backrest (pad and hardware), passenger pillion, and passengers backrest pad. Total price for the 4-piece set is $815, which is similar to prices for other complete sets.

You can get the 2 piece set (riders and passengers seat) for much less ($480), which is again very reasonably priced when compared with other brands.

If I don't go Ultimate then I'll likely go Mustang. I've owned 3 Ultimate seats and only 1 Mustang. I like Ultimate better because it fits my butt better and provides the support I like. The Mustang is good, though, and the bike I had it on was perfect for it. I could ride easy 600 to 800 miles days with either of these seats, but more importantly I can easily ride 1000+ days on the Ultimate with driver's backrest.

Here's the pretty straight forward poop from Ultimate on Warranty and Returns ...

Warranty
All Ultimate seats have a one-year warranty against defects in material and workmanship. Your warranty is activated on the purchase date.

Return Policy for Seats Purchased Directly from Ultimate Seats:
You need to ride 100 miles or more on it to really know how it feels!

If you read some of our customer comments on our web site, you will understand why the Ultimate seat is the ultimate for long distance comfort.

If you buy a seat directly from The Ultimate Seats Company, you have up to 14 days after receiving the seat to contact us for a return authorization.

Just keep the original box and be sure to keep the seat in perfect condition, no scratches, scuffs or tears.
If, for any reason, your new Ultimate seat is not to your liking, call us within 14 days of receipt and discuss the nature of the problem with a customer service representative. We will assign you a "Return authorization” or a forwarding address.

We will either exchange it for another model or refund you for the price of the seat. Your cost is the UPS freight to you and the freight back to our warehouse.
