Hi ive got an 89 fxst turned into a chopper. I broke my inner primary changing the bearing last year. I dont have the part anymore for the p/n whats the difference between late models and 89? plus what size is the starter shaft hole? I had a manual but it got burned when my apt caught fire
The `89 starter motor was one year only part, if you have one, it`s not worth keeping, they were only .9kw power.
1990-1993 Inner primary, starter and jackshaft will work with 1989 outer cover.
The jackshaft size changed for 1994-1997, so if you get an inner primary cover for those model years, you will also need a starter, jackshaft and outer cover for 1994-1997.
You must use a 9 tooth pinion gear to match the 66 tooth ring gear on your 1989 clutch shell.
