Default Foot Control Fitment/Interchange help

Does anyone know if a set of foot controls 0ff a 1996 Softail would work on a 1984 Softail??

If someone has done that, hopefully they will respond...

But IMHO... It's doubtful they are a straight across bolt-on swap....

Just a quick check on the online parts finder shows:

The frames and the rear brake mount share the same part numbers, just different suffixes. With the old number system, that could mean some part updates/changes or just a vender change.

In the parts pics, the rear brake lever mounting brackets look to be completely different, even though the parts numbers are similar, '84 #42507-82 and '96 #42507-89A

The frame seems to look different too, with part numbers '84 #47008-84 and '96 #47008-92B.

I wouldn't spend the money on them unless you could do a hands on parts comparison...

funny you should mention the brake lever. i just lost the little button. crawling around on my hands and knees. I didn't think the 84's had that button. Then again who knows what year these switches may be from.
