I agree with setting the trip meter,gauges are very inaccurate anyway,I think I'm getting about 45mpg on mixed riding in the UK and just top up every 100-120 miles.You don't get far for your money over here with gas at just under ÂŁ1 a LITRE ! ! !

I just set my "Trip Meter" to Zero when I fill upand when it hits 225 miles,
I know I should start looking for a gas station.

That's the beauty of a carbed bike, if it starts to stumble, switch it to reserve and find gas, that way you know how far your bike can go on a tank. I can get 20 to 25 miles on reserve so there is plenty of time before your pushing it.

Gas guages on bikes are over rated. Tripometer is the way to go. Unfortunately the only way to know for sure exactly how many miles you can get out of a tnak is to run out. I would fill up around 200 miles or when I switch to reserve.
