Looking for advice on a fairing for my softail standard. I don’t want a windshield so I’m looking for the smallest fairing that would help with wind on the chest. I wear a full face helmet most of the time but my chest gets beat up on the highway once I hit about 60. Does a cafe fairing do anything or is it only cosmetic? I would appreciate anyone with experience telling me their thoughts.
more cosmetic that anything...
but you could go with a small similar fairing...
here is the quarter fairing, vs. the S speed bullet nose
i dont feel wind beat after a day of riding with the quarter fairing
Your riding position is what dictates how well a fairing works.
With drag bars and rear sets, this fairing kept the wind, rain, and bugs off of my face.
It depends on a few factors
* Your torso height
* Your helmet
* This size of the screen
On my T120 - I used a Dart fly screen. Many guys said they were useless. For me it was perfect. If you want a larger shield, I have an HD quick release Im not using that came off my 08 FXSTC that ill sell ya for a song...
so, i paid a little more attention on the morning ride to work, my quarter fairing works well for me. 6-1 taller torso, it could force a more upright position and noticed the wind pounding my shoulders and arm pit...also hitting my helmet brim.
in my normal, relaxed on the bike feel and reach...i started to notice how much this screen does divert the air around my frame...until 3 digit speeds/
Looking at the Memphis shades cafe fairing. Gives me the option to get the bigger one later if I want. Just don’t want to waste the money if it’s useless

I put a low rider S fairing on the 03 fatboy, it made a difference but it wasn't night and day. It's also probably one of the smallest fairings available.
Sounds like you are looking for one of the two screens I just happen to have sitting in my garage.
One is a Fly Screen and the other is a German made MRA screen. I am using neither anymore and if you are interested in one or both - send me a message.
