First time posting here. I have a 2002 softail standard 1450cc. The bike is stage 2 with air filter, exhaust and camshaft upgrade. I am looking into possibly upgrading to a Mikuni Carb for the bike. I am wondering if there will be any noticeable difference or if I will be wasting my money. Any suggestions and/or advice is also appreciated. Thanks
I like the HSR42 much more than the CV, but it's not going to add power to a stage 2 88" because that CV isn't holding it back yet. The Mikuni will definitely offer improved throttle response, though.
Hah, I was just talking to @Madison Bill about his HSR42 build, hopefully he chimes in with some info, he definitely knows his **** when it comes to that set up.
I agree Mikuni carb will offer much improved throttle response due to the gate valve that can open 100%. However I did other things to my softail such as a final drive chain and an open belt primary along with S&S cams. When I want to leave an area it's instant throttle response and not a rubber binder effect. There is a learning curve if you ever went this route. I changed my EFI to a carbed Harley because that's the way I like them.
Don't de-tune my scoot man.
Gittin ready Mikuni HSR42
