Well I installed a set of V&H BSS on my 08 Custom today along with a Ness A/C and A PC III USB. I don't think my neighbors are gonna to appriciate me too much. It seems a lot louder than the long shots I had on my Roadstar. I really didn't want to play with it too much in the garage since it's a school night. I had Jaime at fuel moto program the PC III but it seems to start a little harder than before. I will get to do some serious testing tomorrow.
The starting problem is caused by how the PC III gets power from the bike. It is powered up when you first flip the switch to "Run" while the fuel pump is pressurizing. Then the circuit that powers the PC III turns off and is not powered again until you hit the start button, thus the extra couple seconds to start waiting for the PC III to power back up. It has been said that it is O.K. to go ahead and hit the start button while the engine light is still on after you hear the fuel pump pressurize for a second. There is a thread around here somewhere about it. Long story short, it is a little frustrating, but perfectly normal for a PC III equipped bike. I like to pretend that I am riding an old bike that didn't start right up all the time.... Hope that helps set your mind at ease.
I've got the same pipes on my 07 Fat Boy. I thought they were a bit too loud, and installed the quiet baffles. I found it to be a significant difference, a much deeper runble, and just took the edge off. My 2 cents.
Why think the neighbours don't like the sound of a Harley. You and I know there is nothing that sounds as goodas a Harley...perhaps they do too. When you hear one open right up tear down the road it sounds fantastic. What about all the alarms going off, garbage trucks, sirens and construction work. I've got V&H BSL and love the look, performance and sound. They have been around a long time and they are everywhere who is complaining...no worries!
I thought the Power Commanders for the '08s weren't out yet......?
I got word from the people at PC that the 07 version should work as long as it isn't the wireless throttle like on the touring bikes. They said they hadn't had enough time to do testing to stamp them good for the 08's yet.

I just figured since I got finished installing around 8:45pm that wouldn't be a good time to rev it up a few times. The people that live across the street just had there 1st child 2 days ago so I will try and keep it as quiet as possible in the neighborhood for a while. Oh ya I love the sound of a loud bike but my next door neighbor has one of those loud tuner cars and I hate the sound of it coming and going.

How long ago was it when you talked to them? I saw on the Eastern Performance website they are selling the PCIII saying it works for '07+. On Ebay they have an auction for a PCIII and say it was just released to work on the '08s. I'm going to give the guys at PC a call today to see if this is true. I've just heard so many bad things about the SERTs and people not being happy with them, it's made me skeptical about putting one on my bike. I have one on order already, but if the PCIII is working for the '08s, I might go that route. Although I really like the ThunderMax and that's my first choice, my dealer told me I should wait until more tesing on the '08s is done. I'm in no huge hurry since my exhaust is on backorder anyway.
