Default primary style swap

I have a 1987 softail fxstc. The starter solenoid is separate from the starter and mounted on top of the inner primary. My inner primary cover (part number 60630-86A) is cracked and I am having a hard time finding one to purchase. I was recently told it was possible to convert my current setup to the 90's model setup where the solenoid is attached to the starter. I am trying to figure out if this is possible and what components I would need to change out to make it work. Any and all help and advice appreciated. Thank you

Change to the 94-up style with the updated gearset for your trans. Make your bike way better.

In addition to replacing the inner and outer primary covers with parts from `89 or later, you will also need to rework the transmission case.

The hole in the starter mounting ear on the transmission case must be bored out to a larger size to accommodate the `89 or later starter motor.

Sorry, don`t know what the dimension is.
