Default V&H HO grenades

Are these obnoxiously loud pipes? My '13 heritage is stock and I'm looking to get a little volume for cheap. Not wanting overly loud or anything just more than what stock offers.

I had a '10 fat boy previously and installed some Bassani pipes that were essentially the same as V&H short shots, or at least looked almost exact same so I'm assuming similar loudness level. I do not want that level again, that was too loud IMO.

I've watched some vids on YouTube but it's always kinda hard to tell versus real life so I'm looking for real world opinions on them. Or viable budget friendly options

I'd check out the bigger players like J&P or Dennis Kirk. Find something that you like the appearance of and then begin price shopping.
As far as sound or decibel level that's all very subjective. No one is going to give you an opinion that will help you out all that much. As you've seen there are YouTube videos out there for different exhausts but I've never found them to be that helpful as far as gauging tone or loudness. Nothing beats in person.
Maybe in your travels you'll stumble upon someone with a setup that you like the sound of. You can get some information that way too.
As far as money, I was happy to find a complete Cobra El Diablo 2 into 1 on Dennis Kirk for $650 in black. From my shopping experience you're not likely to find a good complete system for less than $5-600.

yup i hear ya loud and clear. one thing to clarify from my view is slip ons are just fine.

I know everyone's view of loud is different but if i'm getting something that were known to be loud I dont want the grenades. for instance my TAB with zombie baffles on my road glide are known to be loud. which really to me they arent anywhere near as loud as those damn short shot pipes i had on my fat boy. but i guess that was the feedback i was hoping to get, "oh yeah bro those are louder than sin don't get em".

bike was a gift from my dad who decided to stop riding due to health/age reasons. My intent is to keep it stock, or really more so than that keep it how he gave it to me, but I've owned it two years and it's getting harder and harder to not mod it. i'm wanting just a little bit more than stock but i dont want the neighbors 4 blocks down hearing me when i start it up haha.

I'll keep looking, i feel like my answer lies within the name of the pipes themselves....high output grenades

Slip ons for sure should save you money over a complete system. I had V&H Short Shots many years ago. They could literally set off car alarms. Too obnoxious for even the 21 years younger than now me. Which I guess means I was 39 back then.

I took these off a 2017 sportster cause to loud. Just put them on 96 sportster and there ok with quiet baffles. Don't think the baffles are made any more...
