Default Fat Boy Exhaust

Apologies if this has been asked before, but will an exhaust from a 2016 Fat Boy fit an 2002 Fat Boy? Obviously, there will be O2 sensor ports to plug. Will they mount properly?

There are several exhaust fitments that list, "1986-2017 Softail"...

For example, Vance & Hines Big Shots Staggered, use that fitment,

But then the Vance & Hines Big Shots Long, break the Softail fitment into two groups. "1986-2009 Softail" and "2012-2017 Softail".

I'm not sure what makes them spilt the fitment and ignore the 2010-2011 softails...

So I will say a definite "Maybe"...

Check the manufacturer's website for the exhaust in question, and see what they say it will fit... If the fitment isn't listed, call or email them...

You could also name the exhaust make & model you are asking about, and someone may have personal experience with exactly what you want to do..

Good luck with your research...

Thanks for the reply. In this case I am looking at the Cobra Speedster Slashdown from a 2015. My gut feeling is that at worst I will have to fab or modify the mount.

If you can chase down a part number you should be able to find a fitment chart for it. That's where I'd start.
Plugging the O2 port should be easy enough.

The Cobra web site shows two different part numbers for those two year fitments of the Cobra Speedster Slash Down Exhaust. The '14-'15 uses the #6852 full exhaust and the '01-'05 uses the #6850 full exhaust.

Their site lists the install instructions for both. If you read over the two sets of install instructions, it may give you some insight as to the differences between the two.

Good luck with your exhaust mod...

Well, I bought the pipes. I'll report in when I get them fitted.

The answer is yes, they fit perfectly. The most difficult thing was putting on the second exhaust tip! I got a great deal on the pipes....1 year old for $160.00! There was no way I could pass it up. There are a few small dings in the heat shield, but nothing more than would appear from typical use.

Looks good....

Did you have to modify the bracket at all... or did they just bolt right up...?

The bracket lined right up. No mods required.
