yep. I looked his bike up on hd’s website when I gave him his jet sizes. His bike has the Keihin with an accelerator pump. OP the cv performance webpage hattitude is directing you to is going to be the go to for your carb. Just be advised, they have a rather lengthy back order/ ship time on their tuning kits as they are made to order. But they are one of the best for aftermarket parts if you dont wanna go the moco

Oops, I missed that part of your post....

HD pilot/slow jet 27171-89 = 42

HD main jet 27114-88 = 180

I'll only add that it came with one of two needles:

Jet Needle (California) #27254-96 = unknown cross reference

Jet Needle (49 states) #27253-96 = unknown cross reference

I could not find those part numbers in any cross reference chart, for the actual size of the needle.

I would try to find a NOS needle with that part number on eBay.

Or just go with the CV Performance "CVP Velocity Needle". I used one of their needles in my 2001 88" CV40 carb that's at a Stage I (high flow air cleaner & exhaust). It tuned up real nice and runs very well with the OEM jet sizes.

Ok I just noticed in the box the after market carb came in is a little baggy with a bunch of jets different sizes
THey look like needle jets.and they have numbers on them.
Is it possible one of these is what I need to put in carb
I'll get my magnifying glass and post the numbers on here

These have 40 or 48 hard to read and 42 on them

These are 80 85 and 90 other looks like some kind of plug and a rubber piece

The carb for your bike in OEM form takes a #42 pilot jet (slow jet).

Could the others be 180, 185, & 190...?

If so, they are the main jets, and 180 is what you want for your bike in OEM form...

There is an exploded diagram on the CV Performance web site that will show you where everything goes...

I'd still rebuild the OEM HD CV40 with dependable parts, rather than trust the Chinese carb/parts...

If you want to know CV Carbs, go here for a wealth of information:
https://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/techtalk:evo:carb02
https://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/techtalk:evo:carb01

Site is a Sportster site; however, the CV carb information applies to all CV's
