Default Security system needs replaced!

I ride a 2007 Heritage and lost key fob, fell off on road. I couldn't bypass the security, it wouldn't enter into mode (it used to). After buying a new fob I learned programming was $89, yikes! Without the bike entering into "the mode" dealership suggests a service call for $189 but they were thinking I was looking at a new system $398. I searched for used systems and I decided to have a private mechanic take a look. I was nervous but I had good news, I didnt need a service call or a new system the new fob wasn't programming due to a fuse. Simple and I was so grateful.
My lost keys with my fob ended up costing $300 for a tow, $89 for the fob and $129 for programming. The message here is tuck your keys away nice and secure. Before you pay the dealer check your fuse.
i hope this saves someone the research and panic of a new security system.

Message I heard was “You made the right choice never buying anything after 1999.” I can’t imagine any universe where I’d be at the mercy of others with a broke bike.

FWIW.... it takes all of two minutes to program a FOB.... It actually takes longer to attach the tool than to accomplish the task.

The price of a new FOB is $89. If they sell you the FOB AND program it all for $89.... That's acceptable.

Anyone, IMHO, who would charge you $89 just to program a FOB, after selling you a new FOB for $89.00 is a crook.....
