2002 Fatboy Engine light comes on.
After riding the bike for about 5 minutes, the red engine light will come on in the speedometer.
If I shut the bike down and start it back up, the engine light is out.
So, the trip button code reading trick won't work for this.
I've already tried it and there are no codes stored.
No loss in power or any other adverse symptoms. Just a red engine light after driving for 5 minutes...
I ordered a 4 pin to 16 pin diag connector adapter to try and read it that way.
I don't get any power to my code reader from the bike. Related to engine light issue maybe??
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks for looking!

It may be only throwing an active code after the bike warms up.....
Does it show a Historical code?
The engine light will light until the bike is started...
If it goes off, and stays off, you have no DTC codes....
If it goes off, then a few seconds later it comes back on, only for several seconds, and goes off again.... it's telling you that you have a historical code in the ECM...
The speedometer check on older bikes only gets Speedo & TSSM codes. To get engine diagnostic codes, you need to do another procedure, if you don't have the Harley Scanalyzer (an older dealer tool)...
I don't remember it off the top of my head, but it involves running a jumper wire between two of the pins in the diagnostic connector, then counting the flashes....
The procedure should be on this forum if you search for it, and it is in the Factory Electrical Diagnostic Manual, and I believe it may alos be in the Factory Service Manual...
I think a couple of the higher priced diagnostic tools, like the Techno-Research Centurion and Diag4bikes can read/clear those older ECM codes... but my cheaper Daytona Twin Tec, Twin Scan IV, only works on newer BCM bikes...
So, I don't think there are any historical codes in it. I just need a way to read it while the light is on.

But, it's been running fine with no lights up until a few weeks ago.
Maybe it's time to change them?

I replaced the crank sensor with a new one from the dealer. That fixed that code.
After thinking about it for a while, I gave in and bought a Dynojet Power Vision Black.
I talked with the guys at Fuel Moto and another guy at Dynojet before I flashed the bike.
Scott at Dynojet came up with a custom OEM tune for me to start off with.
Loaded that tune into the bike and ran it around the block. The bike didn't run that great. But, it ran and the engine light stayed off.
Got back home and loaded the Fuel Moto tune into the bike. What a difference!! Bike runs like a raped ape!!! And, the engine light is still out!!!
Extremely happy with how this turned out!!!
