Default Oil level up??!

Hi I have a 2019 lowrider M8. Last year my engine sumped and I got that dealt with which was not cheap. I just brought the bike in for an oil change and all other
fluids. The other day I checked the oil level and it was twice as high as the dipstick line.. I just got it changed a week prior.. what is going on I’m stressed right out. My mechanic said there could be a leak from my primary that is sending it over. Any thoughts? I don’t have a ton of extra cash at the moment if it will cost thousands to fix. Suggestions?? Thank you very much.

Start with the most likely, that it was overfilled by the mechanic.

Easy enough to check primary and transmission levels.

Sorry I should’ve clarified that I checked the oil level the same day it was done and levels were normal

Check the primary and transmission oil levels.
Check the engine oil again tomorrow, cold and hot.

I've had engine oil levels vary by more than half the allowable range on the dipstick because of tilt, and perhaps high tides or alien influence.

There are different lines for checking hot and or on jiffy stand. Just make sure you are checking it the same way each time.

Did you check your primary level? If normal, then the mechanic over filled your engine oil.

Well, I guess that is possible, but...

I'm no expert on Harley lower ends, and maybe the M8 is different, but the engine is separated from the primary by the crank shaft seal. In the one case I knew of personally, and several I have read about on forums, whenever that crank shaft seal leaks, the engine oil transfers from the engine to the primary....

Yours would be the first case I have been made aware of where a leaking crank seal led to oil transfer from the primary to the engine...

I feel the most likely reason is that the mechanic overfilled it, and you made one of your oil checks improperly... or it is at the correct level and you made one of your oil checks improperly..

I'll be curious to read what you eventually discover....

Keep us posted..

So I just re checked. My engine oil is still much higher than supposed to be. My primary is definitely low.. so my guess is a leak.. does anybody know how much of a job this is? I’m no mechanic by any means. Labour and parts estimate? Always something with these M8s haha. Thanks for everyone’s input it’s appreciated. Going to the mechanics next week to a get a full overlook.
