Problems with 23" wheel on softail slim
Getting a new guard bracket welded etc.
Main problem is tht it felt a lot heavier when I tried to get it off the side stand and I was told that I needed to get a rake kit which I have ordered (4 degrees) to assist with the geometry of the bike. Now after spending I've been told that this will only increase the trail and lean of the bike!! I'm confused
I'm thinking that if i put a longer side stand on will help with getting it upright. I am a female so it's heavy enough but now feels even heavier due to the lean now it has a larger front wheel.
So questions.....does anyone have an educated opinion on what will happen to the bike once I get the rake kit on? I've been told now it will handle like crap.
No 2 - does anyone know a place in NSW/Australia where I can get this longer side stand?
Many thanks, Gypsy
So you have gone from a 16" wheel to 23" wheel ? Do you know the difference in tire diameter (not rim)? Either way the bike must have a more nose up look. That will make it lean over more on the stand? If so a longer stand will help. Do you have before and after pics?
Is it raked trees or raked bearing cups you have ordered? Factory FXST trees have approx 3 degree trees so 4 degrees might be OK especially as the FXST has a 21" wheel which is much closer to the 23".
Did the person selling it to you calculate the new trail numbers?
