2FIVE0....You have given new meaning to the name Fatboy. The bike looks great and ya got me drooling over it. Someday I'm gonna get myself a custom ride like that...Keep up the great work and can't wait to see where else you go with that bike.

Just remove the plastic ECU housing and it mounts in fender with no clearance issues at all , cut fender a little smaller and it fits in there tight just pushing it in ,then bolt ECU to it as normal,
You did have to cut a square hole in the front of the rear fender(under the back rest of the Heartland solo seat) for the ECU plastic housing though right? That fender should have come raw with no cut outs. Or did it come pre-cut from Heartland for the ECU housing? Mine came raw and the instructions said to just stuff the ECU forward under the seat, but I dont wanna do that. Would rather keep everything "factory-like". Please if you could be thorough on the explanation in this area, toss some more pics in if you could too showing this area.

thanks!

Mine actually came pre-cut which was nice , you are correct in that the front of the fender had a rectangular cut - out from the front edge ,it was not as deep ( long ) as the ECU housing is but the width was a tight fit which helps to hold it in place, once the seat is on its not going anywhere, I will get you some measurements tomorrow, I had to slot the holes in the ECU housing to move it back into the fender at the bottom of the housing , as seen in the pic,( note ECU housing not fitting all the way down into the cutout at the bottom because holes in front of ECU housing where it bolts to the frame have not been slotted yet ) once I got the ECU where I wanted it then I marked fenders to drill holes for the struts. My instructions also said to lay the ECU right in front of the fender on top of frame upside down, but these instructions must have been written before they decided to cut the fender out , I actually had them send me instructions before I ordered and had decided to cut out the fender like stock anyway, so it saved me the trouble .

Maybe mine was a prototype or something , could also be cause I called and bugged the **** out of them for about 2 weeks before i finally pulled the trigger on purchase, I asked and reasked about everything I could think of and cutting the fender was one of the Questions, any way they actually cut it a little wider than necessary at the bottom and tapered the hole , they should have just made it square , if I was cutting it it would be 5 1/4 wide X 5 1/2 deep , theirs was 6 to 5 1/4 taper X 5 1/2 deep .
06FXST , that would be Mrs 2five0

Mega I saw a few pics of your build in another post , I asked about your tank , can you tell me Brand, cost, is it FI, can you get me a pic of fit at seat and tank, is it a nice fit or do you think there is a little to much space ? was thinking of doing this to mine but wasnt sure of fit . would like it to fit like this pic.

Hey buddy! Thanks for the fast reply! OK, that makes more sense now. I'm going to trace the hole with the ecu bracket then use a plasma cutter and cut the hole out perfectly. I do want to keep the bike "factory like". Including the wiring etc.

Now as for the tank. You like that doncha? It is Fuel injected. Everything lines up perfectly like the factory fat bob tank. Now you did notice the "at present" gap in between the front of the seat and the horseshoe stretch in the gas tank. That will be gone completely when done and the gas tank will blend in perfectly to the front of the seat. I will be welding in some extra material to remove the gap, then grind and sand it down smooth, then apply a bondo/fiberglass coat to perfectly smooth it out so that the tank blends into the seat perfectly.
I was originally just going to sand down my original tank and add an extension to it myself, but I found that tank in the Jireh Cycles catalogue, and it ended up costing me less than $300 shipped. So I sold my factory tank for about $600 and used the extra $300 for the tank prep kit, the primer, factory HD gunmetal and HD black paint, the bondo and the clearcoat and new HD tank decals I will be applying and still pocketed about $50 for a half keg to keep me company on the project. Plus it holds about 6 gallons of fuel too. So I figured I would take a chance. I was blow away by the quality of the tank when I recieved it. Completely. Especially for the cheap coin I spent(err money made, LOL). They have them in both carb and FI models.
