Interesting. Where is the vent for the 2011?

FWIW....

On the HD online parts finder, the 2010 and 2011 Heritage and Fat Boy all currently show the same frame replacement part number #47173-11BHP. So the tanks probably fit the frames.

It also shows the top plates use the same gasket, so the top plates should be interchangeable.

The problem becomes, are the internals from one year going to fit into the other year....???

Between the years 2010 & 2011, the internals (fuel filter/pump) look to be the same, but it looks like the vent was moved from the nipple on the front of the tank (2010), to the tank top plate (2011). The vent on the 2011, now goes into the fuel tank and is attached to a fuel rollover valve. That valve is the vent, and keeps the fuel from spilling out the vent during a rollover accident. It attaches to the bottom of the tank.

So IMHO;

Using a 2010 tank on a 2011, IF the rollover valve will fit/mount in the tank, you can just plug the nipple. If it doesn't fit, maybe you could just use the old tank vent and plug the vent in the top plate.

Using a 2011 tank on a 2010, you will need to supply a tank vent for it to work..

NOTE: Please verify my research and draw your own conclusions before buying any parts. I did this search/comparison in the morning before my coffee....

Looking in from the top, you see a bolt inside the 2011 tank but not in 2010 tank
