Samson fishtails and dyno issue
I am not an experienced tuner, many on this forum are... they will likely chime in...
Until then, AFAIK, your no-baffle fish tales are basically turning your exhaust in a "straight" pipe exhaust. Straight pipe exhausts are known to have "reversion". This reversion can negatively affect low-end power and throttle response. How much in a street application is hard to tell.
There are things called "Lollipops" (diffusers) that can be be put in the exhaust towards the end, that can minimize the affects of reversion, and allow for a better tune on straight pipe exhausts.
Your tuner should be aware of them, their use, and their effects... I would mention them to him and get his opinion on them...
Here is just one version of what is available, and what they look like.
Good luck with your mod...

I recently had my SG tuned after a cam job and mentioned getting my Slim tuned as well. We also spoke about doing a cam job. My bike is set up with Samson fishtails (removed baffles) and after I told him that he said not to do a cam because of the fishtails. He told me just to have it tuned. This comes from a very reputable tuner here in SoCal.
He did tell me that a good 2-1 and the Woods 555 would work great on my bike. Just hard to let the fishtails go.

Not if they don't work together. That's why I spoke with him before I did anything. He tunes bikes for a living so I would assume he knows what combos works and what doesn't.
He said it would be a waste of money.
It really boils down to what you want. If you're looking for performance, fishtails need to go. I don't feel like I need more performance with my Slim at this time. I am confident that when I get it tuned, it will run much better.
