I've been Jonesin' for a new bike. I plan on keeping the Forty Eight for the time being, so this would likely be a pure add...maybe...
I have my eye on a low mileage (4,100) 2020 Softail Street Bob with the 107 Milwaukee Eight priced at $9K. I have no experience with the Milwaukee Eight's, but do understand that it being a 2020 may be important due to an oil pump upgrade that year. I had my share of oil pump issues with my 2001 EFI Road King and certainly don't need any more...
The bike appears to be stock with spoked wheels...
I ride locally for the most part, but would like to stretch things to the occasional 200 mile round trip to Northern Virginia to see the grandson. No plans for any significant sojourns and not lookin' to step back up to a heavyweight bagger again...20 years of that was enough for me...
Anyway...lookin' for feedback from the forum...what say y'all?
I have a 2019 Sport Glide I bought new with the 107. The second year I owned it I went in for a Stage ll kit install. The kit required the newer oil pump and I had to replace it as I had the older one - the Dealership did it under Warranty. My understanding from the dealership tech (because I asked) was that HD transitioned to the new oil pumps in the 107 around mid 2019 (your serial no. will determine whether you have the old or new pump). He said the original stock pump was ok (not defective or anything) but any engine upgrade work required the newer oil pump with an increased flow/capacity. I also believe that HD introduced the larger size oil filter at this time as well. My bike was an early production model and had the old oil pump. Notwithstanding, I never had any issues whatsoever with the 107 either pre or post oil pump change. It has been dead reliable for me and runs like a champ. I use Red Line fluids and have 46,000km/28,600mi now with only regular fluid changes and spark plugs. I cannot say the same for my 96 ci Twin Cam Road King. That engine was a nightmare of Warranty work for the primary bearing, compensator replacement, primary oil deflector fix (for the compensator) and transmission replacement. My 107 with Stage ll is a pleasure to ride needing only regular maintenance over the past 8 years of ownership.
