I went out to go for a ride tonight, & when I started my bike, I noticed an exhaust leak. I shut it off & took a look, only to find that the rear exhaust pipe was busted all the way around about 1" from where it bolts onto the head. They are Samson brand. I not gonna replace them with Samson again, & I'm not that familiar with the different brands available besides Vance & Hines, which is more than likely what I'll buy. The ones I have now run back behind the rear axle. I like the looks of the shorter pipes, but don't want something that will be too loud for a passenger. I was hoping for some feedback from some of you guys with the shorter pipes. Any pros or cons to the shorter pipes over the longer ones? Need to get something ordered soon. Gotta a trip next weekend. Thanks.

V & H Short Staggered with quiet baffles are not very loud at all to me. I have the Big Radius and I think they are to loud and/or raspy sounding for me.
tbenson, what year & model bike have you got them on? I don't mind loud. My Samsons are loud, but they run far enough back thatthey pretty much blow out behind the passenger.

If you are still inside the one year warrenty period I would call Samson and see if they will replace the exhaust. I had problems with my heat sheald, called them and they sent me a new heat shield. It wouldn't hurt to give them a call, they might send you a replacement.
My '03 FXSTS had Samson on it when I bought it - So far so good, but I definitely keep a close eye on them after some of the stuff I've read here. They sound awesome, but durability is important too.
