yes that is how it looks on the page. The description says something like a chrome border on the insert. As it looks in the picture the chrome border appears to come over the end/border and down so in effect the insert covers the actual floorboard. So if the insert is shaped the way it appears it would look different shape than a bare floorboard huh? Just sayin. It says the same thing on the parts listed on their website so if it says the floorboard p/n is 50634-05 then I'd go with that. just sayin
The parts catalog shows the "tapered" type floorboards as 3 items. The floorboard bottom, floorboard cover and floorboard pad. I believe the pad and cover consist of the insert. The std floorboard on a softail is different from the tapered footboard though. You will need the tapered floorboard and the insert in the catalog, wow $350.00 total for footboards.
I have the Aileron rider footboards on my 2005, SE Fat Boy.
On page 356 of the 2007 parts manual it calls out as follows:
A. Tapered Rider Footboard Kit With Crested " Bar & Shield" Logo Insert 50634-05
C.Aileron Rider Footboard Insert Kit50363-05, kit includes left and right insert. $199.95.
It also states:
Fits 05- later FLSTN models and models equipped with Tapered Rider Footboard Kit P/N 50634-05
I would guess, that you get the complete setup with the 50363-05
It is confusing.
Tom
GrampsWyatt,
It looks like you figured it out.
Part no. 50634-05 comes with the floorboard kit and the Bar & Shield insert.
Part no.50363-05, Aileron insert kit, comes with the chrome piece that sits on the bare footboard and the rubber inserts. That is amazing.
Tom
So if i order 50634-05 and 50363-05 i should end up with the complete set up!
Shame i've got to orderthe boards with the bar n shield insert, what a waste! still needs must.
Basher,
You also have to be careful, if you have engine guards or intend to install a set after you install the Aileron floor boards. These foot boards are 2" longer then the stock Fat Boy boards. They give me a lot of room to slide my boots forward and aft, especially since I removed my heel shifter. The one drawback is certain model engine guards will no longer fit.
Tom
Thanks for that,
But no intention of fitting gaurds etc,
I'm a long legged breed and after fitting forward controls from my previous softail and not happy with the look, i got shot of them onebay, and decided that this option was more suited to the Fat Boy.
