Shifter Peg Replacement
Anybody know how to remove the shifter peg? Mine is stock and want to replace it. Can I just use a utility knife to cut away the rubber to get to the screw? Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I replaced mine also. It was tight due to the locktight that had been used. I wrapped a rag around the rubber portion and used vice grips to untighten the shifter peg. Had to use some muscle to get it loose. Using the rag helped prevent from ruinining the rubber on the original peg just in case I wanted to perhaps used it again. Try it, it worked for me.

Just use channel lock pliers and it came off with out a lot of force and the rubber still looks fine. Really no reason to cut off the rubber. Counter clockwise to remove.
Good luck..[sm=signs003.gif]

You can try some penetrating oil from the inside of the shift lever to get some on the threads. Heat would help reactivate the locktite too.
Like everyone else said, wrap with a rag or something and then use vice grips, robo grip, or other to wrench it off. If it's just too hard for you, destroy it and then take it off. You're putting a new one anyway. Plus, if you need to put a stock one back on they are cheap to buy.
