1 1/4 Burly Bikini Bars
If anyone who has these bars could possibly measure them for me I would be greatful.
Thankyou in advance.
Rob
I ordered my bars through Dennis Kirk. They are the Bikini bars. There sight list's them as 12 & 3/4 center. They are due to arrive tomorrow. I might be wrong but I recall seeing a bikini bar and one listed as a bikini beach bar? Maybe that is were the differance is. I'll let you know the measurments when mine arrive.

I recieved the bikini bars yesterday. They are 12 & 3/4 center. They look great. Now I just need the time to install. I'm busy lately.
I also bought 1 & 1/2 inch risers. If I get a chance I'll install them this weekend. Brake line might be OK with the short riser. If not its noproblem changing.I'm more worried about the left wire harness being long enough. I may have to remove the gas tank and see if I can squeeze a few inches.
Maybe one of the other guy's that have installed them can answer that one?

Bars are installed. They look great! All the stock cables and lines work fine if you use a 1 1/2" riser. If you usea larger riserit will be pushing it. You have to remove the tank to take get the slack for the electrical lines, its there. I had planned on routing the wires internal but the conectors are well built soild and waterproof. I decided to drill holes in the burlys' at the curves and mount the harness as the stock cables are. Its easy but don't mess around get a new center punch and a titianum bit at a hardware store (under 10 dollars US). I mounted the new bars first and used a marker to mark the spot. removed them and drilled the holes.
The brake line fits OK and you can still use all the clamps as set up now but you have to remove all three clamps and put some new bends in. Take you're time and use no sharp angles. The rigid tube is easily worked by hand. You will loose about an inch and the lowest clamp at the bottom of the tripple clamp will be clamped to the hose about an inch down the line.
When removing the tank remove the seat first. the center console is held simply by the nut below the speedo. You have to disconect the pin conector under it. Then wrap it to protect it and let it hang over the side. The tank is mounted at two points aft and front. Remove those bolts and there are three lines that you will need to disconect before removing the tank. #1 the fuel feed line on the left aft side. You don't have to remove that line as is a quick disconect. Simply slide up the coller and pulldown (no fuel will leak). #2 there is a fuel vent line at the upper forward end under were the speedo console is. #3 is the crossover tube that linksthe left and rightparts of the tank. The clamps are crimped and you have to work them. You only have to remove one side.
Before removing the tank you have to remove the electrical connector for the fuel guage. Itsunder the tank so you have to lift it up a bit to get to it. I lifted it and stuffed rags under itsoI could getat it. Then simply lift the tank out.
Once the tank is removed you can get at the risers without removing the headlight necell.Remove the bars first and there controls. I was carefull and covered everything in blankets as a dropped tool on the front fender could ruin your day.
Thejob took about 8 hours start to finish. I took my time and had a few beers along the way but it wasnt bad and it was worth it.
I tried topost pictures but the files are to big.I'm not sure how to compress them? I'll work it and see what happens.
I've been to Cambridge and loved it. The UK is awsome. I'm amazed at how beautifull it is and how the people love to decorate there landscape.

I got the bike from Barbs' and just today I went to Williamstown. Took a trip to the farmers market with the wife. Your bike looks awsome. I like the look with the passenger seat and rear rack removed but I use the saddle bags often to carry things to work.
looks like you have quick release docking hardware? If so What set up?
