Just so happens that the dealer contacted me today and asked me if I would be interested in a "pre-owned" heritage. I guess the idea was to make trading in my sportster less painful. Told him I would give it some thought. But I dont know. Either way I will still be upside down. I figure if thats going to be the case, why not be upside down on a spanking brand new heritage as oppose to a used one? And also, I fell in love with the 6speed transmission. Then again, what do I know? Maybe some of you guys could give me some of your input and opinions. Transmission before 07 models are an obvious difference, but what about the 88b compared to the 96b? How much of a difference is there? Please feel free to respond
and also, Im getting the feeling that there isnt a real huge market for sportsters around here. Was talking to a guy who has been trying to sell his nightster for over 2 months. Says he just cant get any serious inquiries. I told him that perhaps its the appearance of the nightster that turn off potential first time buyers. Lots of people in particular those who want to buy one for the wife tend to look for chrome, and thats something the nightster lacks. Just think that most first time buyers who are unfamiliar with harleys are looking for the sterotypes first....hence that chrome appearance. I myself have a 1200L with 4.5 tank and plenty of chrome. Who knows maybe I would fair better
Run an ad in your local motorcycle trader or recycler. Craigslist.org or even ebay. There's always someone that wants a Sporty and doesn't want to hassle with the dealers.
Now that you've ridden one, you're never going to get it out of your mind every time you saddle up on that Sporty. If you want it, you'll find a way to get it.
Good luck and ride safe!
Your absolutely right. Cant get the damn thing out of mymind. Why did I have to test ride one of those?? Now I am begining to think desperate things. Like taking a really fat lost on sporty and just saying the hell with it and just getting the heritage. Hell I dont know. Dont know what the hell Im going to do. I gotta have the heritage, thats all that I do know. Talk about getting the bug? Hell this is a different kind of bug here I tell ya!
Like a guy told me here before i bought my Heritage.... It may be the last bike i buy ! Rode today, but it was nippy ! I say go for the Heritage. You will not regret it. Please post pics when you buy it. I have this feeling it will be soon !!!!!!!!!!! what color are you going to get ?

I think your color looksawsome. Is that the two-toned crimson red/candy red scheme? Really like that. Then again, if its a used one that Iget...well then Im at the mercy of the previous owner
I think many, many of us on here have been in your situation. I had a sporty back in the day, my first Harley too, and the first time I rode a softail it was like when that dude turned into the incredible hulk. I could feel myself completely overwhelmed as to how sweet a softail ride was, I turned into some maniac that had to have one. I couldn't even ride my sporty casue it was like you said, felt like I was on a dirt bike. Unfortunately for you it sounds like you've turned into a green eyed maniac like I did lol. There's no going back. Read this next line and laugh at howcrazy we are for our love of riding.........don't make me angry, you won't like me when I'm angry.........now where's my softail?
Yep. New color theme for 2008. All colors look great on a Heritage for sure . In the last 5 years i have went thru 4 different Harley's. Pervious bike was a Street Bob . Before that a A Sportster , that i loved but my back did not like the sporty, that is for sure .

Good luck man!
LOL pure genious man! You got it right. I have been david banner all this time on my sporty. Indeed my eyes are green. I suppose the full transformation is only a matter of time away. This is something that I dont think I can fight. Been going back and forth in my head about the pros and cons as far as my wallet goes. Damn. Why did I test ride that damn thing??? WHY???
rode a sporty 1200 for the first time a few months ago , and wasquite surprised about how good it felt hooning around - lot better get up and go compared to my heritage. BUT with open road riding the heritage wins hands down.
