Folks ... sorry to fly off the handle there ... I know better than to let anything said on these forums get under my skin. I won't try to justify it ... I'll just say that I know better.
It is a dead end street doc to talk about wars... was you in nam ? I was...Just making a point... who wins or looses a war depends which side you are on ... Sorry about the Indians . some you lose and some you win. Just life. Old history .

Visited my dealer in Pomano Beach a week or so back...have never seen so many new motorcycles
in one place before in my life! There were bikes all over the place, inside and out. My salesman said
they're getting in 25 new bikes/month and they're just not selling. It's pretty obvious that the market is soft.
No mystery why the factories willshut down. I'm sure there's a bunch of factors why this was bound to happen
sooner or later. There's a lot of interesting points of view on this forum why...but it mightjust be acyclical thing,
no pun intended.

Yeah, the Dealer where I bought my bike from is loaded with new bikes. Like I said before, overall, sales of everything is way down right now. So many lead stories on the news are about the housing crisis. The ripple effect is staggering. Our retail store which is involved in vacuums with a Nationally recognized brand is way down compared to last year in sales. People are fixing their old machines versus buying new ones to save money. Look at the price of gas. We're so completely a petroleum based economy. Our shipping costs have just about doubled in the last year. I'm shocked when ever I go grocery shopping. Motorcycles to most people are a luxury item, so when the economy is a little sluggish, it's not going to be the first thing people buy. Wejust sold a piece of vacation property with 3 small cabins on it to a Canadian because we are close to theCanadian Border where their dollar is now stronger thanours. First time since the 70's.We are a little isolated from the general trend in the Pacific Northwest, especially the housing crunch, but I can tell you first hand that people are NOT spending like last year. Is it really a suprise that Harley closed some plants? I thinkour economy would be in deep sh*t if Toyota or Honda started doing the same. The good news is that it always changes again.
