Default Middle Age??

So im talking to a few guys earlier about my desires to own a heritage classic. And they tell me, your too young for one of those. Get the fat boy, its suits you better. I asked the meaning behind that, and I was told that most middle age folks go for the heritage and deluxes hence why the softail is harleys biggest selling class. They say the women love the fatboys. Is there any truth to this? Or am I just being yanked around? What does that mean? Im in my early 30s myself. I find the heritage to be a hot looking ride. Are the heritages and deluxes considered old men bikes?? Pls forgive my ignorance. I thought people bought bikes based on there hearts and desires, and not the age demographic. Just curious to know is that the general thought process out there? Am I too young to love the heritage classic??

They gotta be yankin' your chain.
Age is just a number. What you feel as you get "older" depends on mostly your attitude.
Ride what you want, and get what you want to ride.
And, ride safe!

you surely don't need anyone's permission to like a given style of bike. Now, if you had asked about an ultra classic?

just like ajaugust says... age is just a number...... I'm 58 and bought my first Fat Boy 3 months ago. I already know what my next bike will be.... an FXSTS Springer.

I might catch some flack for this one but, tell them Gold Wings are for the old guys. I'm 33 and ride a Heritage, wanted something that could be stripped down and look hot and at the same time put it all back on and go on a serious road trip.

Later,
Dan

Allow me to say +1 to Dans comment and offer an illustration of it.
Here it is in travel mode in the Smokies:

And here in stripped down hot mode.
I rest my case.

Yea they are yankin your chain.
I road a goldwing whenI was in my lower 30s.
Then I got a real bike in my 50s.
Test ride and get what you like.
Women do love a backrest. Guess that is whyI ride single.

I guess based on their outlook, at 60, I need to get rid of my '07 Deuce w/18k miles and get something more suitable for an old dude! By the way, how many miles did these experts put on this year?

You are correct. You buy what you like and what fits your needs. Now if they're buying, It looks likeyou're getting a Fat Boy!!

I got my Goldwing when I was 32 (Im 34 now). They can call me anything they want.

TK353- The Goldwing is a real bike. I love when my buddys and I ride 1000 miles to Florida. They are on their Harleys (there are also 4 other Wings)and I ride my Wing. We always have to stop so they can "rest" OR repair their bike. There are 20 of us that ride down and we always have an issue with a Harley every time. I laugh when a Harley guy has to get on the back of a Wing.
Dont get me wrong...I love my Harley....but theres no way you can knock a Goldwing. Power, reliability, and comfort

I agree with 2deuce, cause like himif age was a measure of what somebody"should" ride I sure as hell shouldn't be on an 07 Custom.
My advise to you would be to tell them to go take a flying leap at a rolling dounut.
Then take a ride to the dealers and pick out the bikeYOU want.
