Im new to the forum so I hope this question isnt repetitive.would a v&h fuel pak be benificial on stock bike. Im planning on some new pipes and ac in the spring but was just wondering about the fuel pak. Thanks for any replies.
I have a 06 with a fuelpak, intake, and longshots. Easy install and setup. Works great, no popping. I recommend it as long as you will not be doing any major motor work in the future. If cost is not an issue go with the Thundermax w/ autotune. Then you are set for any upgrades in the future and no dyno tunes.
Don't know if you've tried it yet but the seach function works pretty good. You get tons of pro/con info on the various add ons.So far the only con I've seen for the thundermax is the price. It's lists for around $900 but some have said they gotten it for under $700. I've yet to find anyplace thatsells it at that price. You may try looking upposts by poorboy.I believe he has the fuel pack on his 08 fatboy and is happy withit too.
As long as I can interpret your post as something you'll add ALONG WITH new pipes and a/c, I think the price-point and performance is worthwhile.
There are several fuel managers pretty much doing the same job, and they piggyback to your ECM (which I suggest you leave stock). If your pipes are going to be V&H, then for sure, I'd go with their FuelPak as well.
If your thread gets interpreted a little differently; and you are asking about installing a FuelPak by itself (without pipes or a/c yet), then NO, DON'T do this. As a matter of fact, the online FuelPak settings guide will quit on the spot if you do not select a performance set of pipes to go with the FuelPak.
Pipes, a high flow air cleaner, and a fuel manager will put you into the wonderful world of Stage 1. Any kind of search on "Stage 1" will overload you with data (mostly all good stuff).
I did a lot of research back in July, days after getting my '08 Fatboy, where things were pretty sparse about any '08 model. Some assumptions about '07 fit were true, some weren't. I was trying to extrapolate the '07 info to my '08. Lots of choices everywhere for '07 & '08s now.
