Took her out for around 50 miles the other day, high 30's, clear. Had to wear a face mask. Not bad if you have the right gear, but in Pac. Northwest, the sun in the winter doesn't get high in the sky, so certain areas stay shaded so you have to watch for ice. Average temp though is in 40's. Frickin rain rain rain. I can handle the cold, but I hate the rain. Think I passed 3 or 4 other bikes on the road.
I stop riding for the season when they put salt on the roads. Unfortunatly, that happened last week, so my season is done util spring.
Cold isn't the problem, Warm gear takes care of that, but Salt eats chrome...
I too have warm, electric clothing. So the cold does not bother me that much. And, I have several bikes to choose from to ride. But, once that fricken salt hits the road, I hang it up also. The salt is the worst aspect about winter. I hate the salt.
I am from wisconsin and the last time that I rode was about a month ago, it was 28 degrees. I froze my azz off, so I guess that 28 degrees is my limit.
Idon't stop.
When its very cold I ride the hack its faired and gives wind chill protection.
Drove when snows been falling and down to minus 4 old money.
can't sit in a car stuck in traffic it drives me mad.
I'm from northern wisconsin. It was -18 the other day coming into work. Some of the guys asked if I rode in on the bike. That IS to cold. Put the bike up Late Oct with the first snow and salt on the roads. I ride until the salt is put down. I will trailor the bike south in the spring for a week. The cold has never been a issue.
-18 now that is just outrageous. I could never live anywhere that got that cold. It makes my 40 degreequestion look kinda gay. Guess I will plan a ride next weekend!
