Default For thec techs out there, front fork adjustment?

Question for any techs out there. What is the part of the 1K service that checks the steering head? Or is it the front fork? I cant remember specifically what it is but I do know that there is an adjustment on the front. If anyone could refer to me what it is in the manual, Id greatly appreciate it!

There are two things done at 1k,the neck is empty of grease when shipped, bearings are packed with grease only,at 1k the neck is filled with grease normally takes allmost a whole tube,a fall away check is done bike is jacked up level the handlebars are turned to one side if all is right when released should return to the center,if it does no adjustments are required, and im not sure what would be done if it was needed, hope this helps..

Ok, I'm not a tech butno wheel will come back to center from the stops. Here's my version as mentioned in the 07 manual with some variation and added features to make it user friendly
Jack the bike up so the front wheel is off the ground and level. Normally the cables need to be removed but screw it. I can't believe anybody will actually do that for what small influence it has. Place a piece of tape on the fender tip and mark a line on it. Center the forks and move something that will work as an indicator to the fender line for reference. Slowly turn the forks left and measure the point where the fork starts to fall over on it's own. Do it both directions. If memory serves me correctly it should bebetween 1- 2 inches.Less than 1"isloose and over2" is tight. If it in range grease it and go. If it is not you need to do this..
Remove the chrome cap that covers the stem. Tape it really good and channel locks or strap wrench if need to remove it. Loosen the 1 1/2" nut on the top clamp afterbending the locking tab down. Loosen the two fork tube pinch bolts on the lower tripple clamp. Under the upper tripple clamp there is a thinnotched nut that tightens and loosens the bearings. A long skinny punch, or screwdriverwill fit in there and slight taps with a light hammer will turn it. Twist it's *** until you get the measurements you want. In this order, torque the upper 1 1/2 nut to35-40 ft lbs , bend the lock tab back to lock it and install the chrome cover. Check to see if the wheel is square with the handlebars and retorque the lower tripple clamp pinch bolts to 30-35 ft lbs.Do not tighten these first. The top nut must be first.Check the fall away again to be sure. If good , grease it and you're done. Ron
