Anyone have these units, part #17903 on V&H website, installed on there ride? If so, are they working out ok? Also, I would like to install these on my 06 FXST/I, but V&H website say NO CAN DO!!! Now, has anyone bought them anyway and made them work, and if so, was it a pain in the butt?
I'm no expert but I think V&H would know what fits what. From looking at my bike, and those pipes you want, I think it's an issue with support. With those short pipes, looks like no support other than coming out of the cylinders. I would suggest you call V&H on the phone and ask them directly.

Iinstalled them on my 2006 Fatboy. I didn't think the FXST frame was any different. I bought them new from American Classic Motors who has a store on E-Bay. They are a registered V&H dealer. I paid something like $445 shipped. The stock HD support bracket will come off and be replaced by a support bracket that comes with the pipes. The bracket mounts lower than the stock one. You'll have to take out two plastic hole caps in the frame (they pull right out) and mount the V&H braket using those two holes rather than the two holes that occupied the stock bracket. I found taking the floorboard off made it easier to mount the pipes and properly line up the two exhaust ports.
I'm not a Vance & Hines tech, nor do I play one on TV, but I can read.
If you look at the pipes he's refering to on their website, it states right there that they
WILL fit the 2006 Fatboy, and not 2006 Standard. Pretty straight forward. Don't you think if it was just a matter of removing a few plugs from the frame they would of said so?
I CUT 1 - just giving my $.02 regarding the ease of install as well as where to get a good price on them.
Tom,
Yes you did give him good info on where to get V&H Pipes at a good price by an authorized dealer. But you also gave him erroneous info on the two frames being the same (you think) "I didn't think the FXST frame was any different"
Then you proceded to explain the install, on a Fatboy frame, and he has a Standard frame.

I think this forum is wonderful for all the information we can learn here. But if you're not sure, <like changing lanes...don't>
That is why I suggested that he call V&H direct.
Fight nice fella's. [sm=chairshot.gif][sm=chairshot.gif]. Don't think they'll work, factory man said that pipe would hit forward control. I didn't think to ask if they would fit if bike had extended controls, but I don't have extended controls on my bike, YET!!
