I put the 3-inch ness extensions on my ride and added forwards at the same time (removed the floorboards). Compared to the floorboards the controls and extensions give me more ground clearance. The way the extensions are designed I can't see any applications in which you would loose clearance. My bet would be that this warning is a liabilty precaution.

I have the ness extensions on my Deuce - never a problem!! And the ride is more comfy - 6' 4" rider.

Heather got down in a couple of turns at the dragon and scraped her forward pegs, did not wreck, the set she has are adjustable and we raised them up a hair

I have the Ness kit too and no problems. There was no way I could comfortably ride / shift with the controls in the stock position. It all depends on how you ride.

H-D's extended forward control kit has tabs that hang down about 1.125" from the bottoms of the brackets. These tabs are there for the lower mounts on the optional crash bar, should you choose to install it. I didn't and so am stuck with the stupid-looking "ears" hanging down on my '05 Night Train. I bought H-D's kit because it was available in black. I wish now I'd gotten Kuryakan's or someone else's (sans tabs) and just had the chrome removed. [:@]

Bob,

The Ness kit is black... I know that doesn't help you now but maybe a shot at selling the HD set here in the classifieds or maybe ebay - just a thought.
