If You don't change the air filter to hi flow unit, no "tuning" is needed.
However for real performance gains get a hi flow air cleaner and the fuel pak

What he said. Do a search on "Stage 1" and realize how wonderful life will be.Replace your fluids withsynthetic oils, along with the stage 1, and you'll be running cooler engine temps than ever thought possible.

I agree if you're still running the stock air filter set up you should be OK. I ran mine with the big radius pipes on the stock air cleaner with no tuning changes for the first 800 miles with no problems. Then I went with a screaming eagle AC, power commander and tune.
I have experience with both fuel pak and power commander......i had much better results with the PC, no poping and much better response on acceleration
just my opinion
cool this is great to know! any suggestions on upgrades i put about 120 km a day on my bike in the summer.I have no problem what so ever with the power she push's out,put come on there is no such thing as not wanting more power
Look into Arlen Ness Big Sucker (a high-flow air cleaner replacement), or K&N offerings for a new air cleaner system, and then check eBay or numerous vendors for the Power Commander (model III is the beter model now) and you'll be set.
Already having the V&H BRs puts you about 50% there for Stage 1on what it will cost you next. The air cleaner and fuel computer are very easy for "do it yourself". There's LOTS of info on the forum here for Power Commanders and the a/c components. Lots of wonderful advice and "how to" info.
Run the way you are now if money is tight, but you are VERY close to more wonderful!
I asked the mechanic and he suggested fuel management weather you change the breather or not and I agree. There is much more power locked in your bike and until you do a fuel management you wont get what used to be normal power and temperature. Please on doing as as soon as you can and yes the oil and gear oil makes a big difference in the way you bike responds.
bikes run too lean from factory...fuel pack protects your investment!!
I had the sert and hi-flow air cleaner installed and was amazed at how much better the bike runs.
dont think that just because your changing pipes/mufflers etc.. you aren't changing the back-pressure of the exhausts, the bike will run even leaner
