Rush all the way. Nice deep rumble. I have the 2 inch slash downs -- love them . You can always change the baffles if it is too loud. Good quality and price . As with other posts , check out their web site.
I had the Rush 1.75 slipons and loved them.
The only reason I hangd to a full system is to eliminate the problem the Fatboys have with the stock exhaust strattling the rear footpeg. It was annoying and hot for my passenger.
The Rush have a great sound. Low deep rumble.
Hi All, I have just recently bought an 08 Softail Custom 105th Ann. Ed. and need to rip the stock pipes off and put on new ones. I can't afford to replace the whole system, so slip-ons are the way to go for me.
I have looked at a number of different makes and they all look so nice, but it's hard to settle on something when you can't hear the sound they produce.
I have looked at SE, S&S V&H and Cycle Shacks.
The sound I am looking for is a nice deep rumble when idling (everyone knows the sound I mean) and want to be heard on take off. I don't want something ear piercing as I need to respect my neighbours and of course my girlfriend!!
Can anybody help me decide!! What do other people have?
Thanks alot,
Ryan (aka Harley_Nova)
I agree with the RUSH pipes...I had them on my Standard before I got the VH BSS..
They are for sale..if anyone is interested,,PM me. Or email.
On the flip side I've seen many folks trying to sell their slip ons becausethey just weren't satisfied. It may be worthwhile to save your pennies a little longer and buy the pipes you really want in the near future.
I have to agree with this post pipes are to me anyway the most important mod. Wait till
you can get something you are going to be happy with. I'm currently on my 3rd set of pipes.
finally saved for what I really wanted "rineharts"
You should wait and put on A Vance and Hines 2 into 1 pro pipe. The best sounding pipe and not to loud but not quiet. I have a pro pipe on 06 fat-boy and like the sound better than the 2 into 1 rineheart that i have on my 08 fatboy
I'm putting on 2in 2out rinehart chambermaids they haveone of orthe deepest tone i have heard even on idle. thought about the 2 into 1 rineharts but I hear they not up to par with the other 2 into 1 pipes.
Rinehart makes slip-ons, but they're pricey. ( $450? )
The sound is unbelieveable though.
really deep rumble at idle.
It's the very first thing I bought for my Train.
they look nice too.
I know you won't beleive this but if you buy slip-ons because you can't afford a full system you are wasting more money because sooner or later you will wish you forked out the extra and bought a full kit. V&H produce some top class stuff, great sound, look and fit, top chrome and will likely be themost attractivepart on your bike. Remember whatever the cost for slip ons could have gone towards what you'll end up with down the track.I wanted that special rumble I know its hard to decide but 12 months later I'm still so relieved I made the right choice and went with V&H.
P.S. I didn't read any prior posts I went straight to your fastreply. But now I look over a few replies there were plenty who "had" slip ons but now have full kits. Cheers.
If its got breasts or wheels its gonna cost you money.
